The Hamptons NY: A 72 Hour Travel Diary
A couple of weeks before my wedding, I was invited to the Hamptons NY for a three day stay. Looking back, I wouldn’t recommend going on a girls trip in the two weeks before your wedding if you haven’t finished wedding planning (lol), but I’m glad I went!
Note: I was hosted by the Capri Southhampton for a complimentary stay but all opinions in this post are my own.
I went to the Hamptons NY with ShaunMara Begley of Shaunie and the City and Dom Bagnoche. I’ve linked their blogs so you can check out these talented ladies. We had an absolute blast during our 72 hour trip.
DAY ONE
Our first stop was to get settled in at the Capri Southhampton. If you follow me on Instagram, you may know that yellow is my favorite color. So, I absolutely loved the hotel’s yellow and white theme.
The hotel is built around an internal courtyard that has a drop dead gorgeous pool that made me feel like I was vacationing on Italy’s Amalfi coast. BUT – no need to buy an expensive plan ticket!! We were actually only a two hour drive from New York City . You can also reach the Hamptons by a bus called the Hampton Jitney or by the Long Island Railroad. However, the hotel has such a European chic vibe, it felt like we were miles away from home!
On our first day, we all agreed that we wanted to visit one of the Hamptons’ famous vineyards. We chose Duck Walk vineyard because of its proximity to our hotel and its reputation for having affordable but crowd-pleasing chardonnay. I’m not a chardonnay person but theirs was actually great and I’m saying that as a person who is completely biased against chardonnay.
While we were at the vineyard, the grey skies started rolling in. All of a sudden, it started to downpour! The staff at the vineyard was kind enough to let us hide out in their barrel room until we could get a car to come pick us up. We hid out from the rain at Union Cantina and luckily had timed our trip perfectly for their taco Tuesday specials.
DAY TWO
On our second day, we had breakfast in bed and then spent the morning at Capri Southhampton’s gorgeous pool. When you’re sitting pool side at the Capri Southhampton, you could almost swear you were poolside on the mediterranean.
We grabbed lunch at Four Oaks Cafe in Southhampton before heading out for the rest of our day. Their food and juices are great, but TBH I wouldn’t recommend them if you are in a rush, because their service can be on the slower side.
In the afternoon, we drove to visit a lavender field and a sunflower field, both which are located on Long Island’s North Fork. You can read about those visits here and here. It’s easy to visit both flower fields in the same day! The North Fork and the Hamptons are different areas of Long Island, NY, but you can easily drive between them if you have a car or are using a ride sharing app.
We were totally exhausted that night and ended up ordering food into the hotel instead of going out for dinner. It’s easy to feel pressure to be on the go for an entire trip, but I’m glad we decided to take it easy that night so we could really enjoy our last day.
DAY THREE
Capri Southhampton spoiled us with another breakfast in bed. We couldn’t resist the hotel’s pool, so after a little more pool time we made our way to Montauk. Montauk used to be a laid back fishing village turned surfer town. Now it’s pretty much the party capital of the Hamptons.
Our first stop was at Tacombi for some tacos and margaritas. You might be familiar with Tacombi’s famous location in NYC’s West Village, but the Montauk location is my favorite because it feels more spacious.
After Tacombi, we hit the beach. The Hamptons have beautiful and well maintained beaches, with wide stretches of sand. The Montauk town beach is always lively and even though it was mid-week, it did not disappoint! We staked out a little section on the beach and enjoyed the sun for a little while. Obviously, I wore SPF 55 sunscreen the whole time, lol.
After so much fun and sun, I fell asleep early and unfortunately had to leave in the morning to go home and finish wedding planning. Our few days in the Hamptons had me rested and ready to tackle all of the final details!
Have you ever been to the Hamptons? If you have, I’d love to hear about it!

Totally love this post. All your photos are so beautiful. Loved the yellow and white hotel, the flower fields and cool shot in the pool. How did you do that – with an iPhone? I’ve only been to the Hamptons in the Winter which was really beautiful but not vibrant and colorful like your trip!!

Thanks so much! The pool pic was taken with a Go Pro Hero 5 and I bought a “dome” attachment for $50 that lets me do the split water effect. It was such a good purchase.
I’ve been dying to visit the Hamptons one day. I have this dream of going with a few of our couple friends and relaxing/bbq-ing.
That sounds great! I love the more laid back Hamptons weekends and avoid the party scene these days.
