The 15 Most Instagrammable Places in Paris
Quick – what’s the most photogenic city in the world? I bet you said Paris! With its cobblestone streets, adorable bakeries and overall romantic feeling, Paris is the perfect city to get the ultimate Instagram photo. I visited Paris for the fifth time in September, and this is my list of the 15 most Instagrammable places in Paris.
And if you love Instagram as much as I do, feel free to check out my lists of Instagram spots for London, New York City, Las Vegas and Scottsdale, Arizona. And, you can also check out my free video training about how to grow your Instagram following and be a profitable influencer.
Alright, now are you ready to see the best Instagram spots in Paris? Oui? Let’s go!
1. Eiffel Tower
Did you really visit Paris if you didn’t get a photo of the Eiffel Tower? It is one of the – if not THE – most Instagrammable places in Paris.
My favorite places to view the Eiffel Tower are from Rue de l’Universite (pictured below), from the Trocadero or from the banks of the Seine. Don’t forget to view the Eiffel Tower at night when it lights up the sky with thousands of twinkly lights!
You can also picnic on the Champ de Mars with a view of the Eiffel Tower but it’s hard to get the perfect Instagram worthy shot there because of the crowds.
It’s always beautiful to catch a view of the Eiffel Tower in the distance from a rooftop or balcony. Especially at sunset!
2. Arc De Triomph
The Arc De Triomph is a world famous monument in Paris that I highly recommend you visit. Getting an Instagram worthy shot can be tricky because the Arc De Triomph is located in the middle of a busy traffic circle (or a roundabout, as my British husband calls it).
Bring a friend or fellow photographer to help you get this shot if you want to be in the photo.
You can also catch some beautiful views of Paris if you go up the Arc De Triomph to the viewing platform. I didn’t have a chance to do so on this trip, but have done it on previous trips and it’s well worth the 12 Euro admission!
3. The Louvre
I absolutely love going to museums when I travel. The Louvre is one of my favorites, because it’s beautiful both inside and out. I love the contrast of the historic palace against the modern glass pyramids. Go early if you want to get that perfect Instagrammable pic in the courtyard.
It is the largest art museum in all of France, so you probably won’t be able to tackle the entire museum in one trip unless it’s a REALLY long trip.
If you have time to go inside, at least try to see the Mona Lisa (which is smaller than you’d expect) and the Venus de Milo!
4. Cafe Eugene
Montmartre is one of the most charming neighborhoods in Paris. It is perched on a hilltop (aka get ready to walk some serious stairs) and has a charming and old fashioned feeling about it.
Cafe Eugene is a quintessential Parisian cafe with sidewalk seating and a red awning. It’s a perfect place to take a photo and then grab a coffee and people watch.
Cafe Eugene opens at 7 AM and I’d recommend visiting on the early side before Montmartre gets too busy.
5. Le Consulat
Le Consulat is an adorable little cafe in Montmarte. It is detached from its neighbors on both sides and its symmetry makes it one of the most Instagrammable places in Paris.
Le Consulat opens at 11 AM, and they were setting up the outdoor cafe seating starting at 10 AM on the day we visited. I recommend visiting Le Consulat either early in the morning before they are setting up the sidewalk cafe, or exactly at 11 AM so you can take your photos before the crowds descend.
6. La Maison Rose
Instagrammers flock to pink houses and cafes, and La Maison Rose is no exception! This picture perfect pink and green restaurant is located on a charming cobblestone street in Montmartre.
Apparently, Picasso used to hang out here! I was traveling with my friend Sarah, the blogger at Lust Till Dawn, and we absolutely loved this charming spot in Montmartre!
7. Sacré Coeur
The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris, commonly known as Sacré-Cœur, is a beautiful Roman Catholic church in Montmartre. It is located on the top of the hill in Montmarte, and you can catch stunning views of Paris from it.
We chose to take photos from the side of Sacré-Cœur to get a slightly different perspective of the building. If you get to Montmartre early enough to beat the crowds, the view of the front of the basilica is breathtaking.
8. The Sinking House
This clever optical illusion is definitely one of the most Instagrammable spots in Paris. The Sinking House is located near the Sacré-Cœur.
You need to walk the steps leading up to the Sacré-Cœur. When you reach the final set of steps, you will see the shot on your right hand side if you are facing the basilica. The trick is to tilt the photo so that the bank of grass is level in the picture, making the house appear to be sinking.
9. Rue Crémieux
Rue Crémiuex is a charming and colorful cobblestone street in the 12th arrondissement of Paris. When you step onto the residential backstreet of Rue Crémiuex, it doesn’t really feel like you are in Paris anymore.
Rue Crémiuex, with its pink, yellow, blue and other colorful homes, reminds me of the Notting Hill neighborhood in London. Some of the residents of this street have clearly gotten tired of living at one of the most Instagrammable places in Paris.
You will see signs on certain houses asking you not to take photos or videos. I always try to be respectful and so we didn’t take any photos with those particular houses.
10. Notre Dame
Notre-Dame is a medieval Catholic cathedral on the Île de la Cité in the fourth arrondissement of Paris. Its French Gothic architecture isn’t to be missed. My favorite Instagram photos here are those taken from the nearby bridges on the Seine river.
11. Palais Royal
The Palais Royal is a former royal palace located in the 1st arrondissement of Paris. The striped columns in its courtyard make it one of the most Instagrammable spots in Paris!
There are columns of various heights and you are permitted to sit and stand on them, so you can get creative with your Instagram shots!
Sarah and I chose to wear rainbow horizontal striped outfits to contrast with the columns but I would love to go back wearing an outfit with vertical stripes. Guess that’s a good enough reason to start planning my next trip to Paris!
12. Jardin du Luxembourg
OK I have to confess to using a little bit of photoshop magic to get the photo below at the Fontaine de l’Observetoire, which is technically not in the Jardins du Luxembourg but adjacent to the gardens.
The Luxembourg gardens are a beautiful place to go for a walk or have an outdoor picnic in Paris, with fewer crowds than you’ll see on the Champ de Mars.
The Luxembourg gardens are on the border between Saint-Germain-des-Prés and the Latin Quarter next to the Luxembourg Palace.
13. By a Metro Sign
Paris is full of metro stations with the iconic “Metropolitain” and “Metro” signs. The photo below was taken in Montmartre but any Parisian subway sign qualifies as being one of the most Instagrammable places in Paris.
14. At a Bakery
No visit to Paris is complete without a visit to multiple French bakeries. They are charming both inside and out! My favorite treats are croissants and macarons. You can find cute and colorful bakeries on nearly every block in Paris.
15. Moulin Rouge
The Moulin Rogue is a famous cabaret and certainly one of the most Instagrammable spots in Paris. This is where the can-can dance was born!
There is usually a lot of traffic and foot traffic outside the Moulin Rouge, so go early (or very late, if you’re into nighttime photography).
I hope you all enjoyed my guide to the 15 most Instagrammable spots in Paris. If you’ve been to Paris and blogged about it, let me know in the comments!
