When you find a spot that looks interesting, you can click into its Ociety listing for more details. You can read reviews from other Ociety users. You can also see photos of the venue, its Ociety star rating, its noise level, and details about the crowd, atmosphere and menu. 

You can also easily click through to a venue’s website, or get directions to it.  

Ociety is a new app that’s still in Beta as of October 2022. So you can only expect that more and more businesses will be reviewed in the app as more people use it.

How Do Ociety’s Charitable Donations Work?

Every time a user reviews a business on Ociety, Ociety donates $1 to a charity. The charities that Ociety is currently supporting are Save the Children Foundation in support of Ukraine, and Community of Unity, a non-profit that helps empower adolescents in NYC.

Venues that sign up for Ociety can run waste-reduction promotions. Essentially, businesses can offer discounts on their overstocked items to help them reduce food waste. 

How are Businesses on Ociety Rated?

Any Ociety user can rate restaurants and bars within the app. This includes rating the venue from 1 to 5 stars, and making other selections within the Ociety app to rank a place’s vibe, noise level and more.

Only “Ociety Critics” can leave written reviews about restaurants and bars in the Ociety app. 

How Can I Become an Ociety Critic?

To become an Ociety Critic, you need to reach the “Warp Traveler” rank within the app. You can increase your rank in the Ociety app by leaving reviews, checking into venues, referring friends to the app, taking advantage of promotions in the Ociety app and more. 

Basically, Ociety stans get rewarded by being able to leave detailed written reviews in the app. And people reading those reviews can trust that they are from a reliable (and real!) Ociety user, instead of a random troll or bot. 

You can also become an Ociety Critic if you’re a chef, venue owner, food critic, influencer or hospitality promoter. 

Ociety Critics also get access to exclusive promotions in the app and get a first look at new features.
